the 8th edition art now fine art fair comes to a close

The 8th annual Art Now Fine Art Fair came to a close on Sunday, September 17, 2023. For this edition, Art Now was held at the International Trade Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan. There were hundreds of original artworks for sale from 11 Saskatchewan exhibitors, showcasing a diverse line up of artists and artwork.

The show began on September 14 with a well-attended reception, where attendees could chat with the gallerists, listen to the Regina Symphony as they browsed the artwork, and enjoy refreshments and appetizers. Overall, Art Now welcomed 1,500 in-person visitors, and another 9,000 online from across Canada to artnow.ca.

Throughout the weekend, attendees were able to listen to several local artist talks, including Diane Larouche Ellard, Linsey Levendall, Madeleine Greenway, Chaplin, Ward Schell, Nikki Jacquin, Sharron Labatt, and Todd Gronsdahl.

There were four panel sessions over the course of the weekend, curated by Belinda Harrow, Artist and Consultant, SK Art Permanent Collection, including “Art Collectors: The Next Generation,” “Caring for Your Collection,” “Life Stories: Personal Narrative in Art,” and “A Life Well Crafted.” The overall theme of the sessions, according to Harrow, was “motivation, creation, preservation, and appreciation.” All sessions were recorded and are now posted on SaskGalleries' YouTube channel post-event.

Two new additions to the Art Now Fine Art Fair this year were the Dunlop Art Gallery Drop-in Workshop, Introspective Collage, in the Kids’ Creative Zone as well as the stART section, which featured emerging artists selected by our participating galleries.

Several attendees won great door prizes that were generously donated by the participating galleries and Regina Symphony Orchestra.

SaskGalleries is grateful to facilitate the Art Now Fine Art Fair once again, and thanks all the attendees, galleries, presenters, volunteers, and organizers for making the event possible. SaskGalleries is also grateful to Creative Saskatchewan and all our sponsors, for making Art Now accessible to the public.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the 9th edition of Art Now, which returns to Saskatoon, on September 19 to 22, 2024. And follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
